Hat Rock Vineyard awarded Trophy for ‘Best Pinot Noir in Show’ 2009 Geelong Wine Show
Hat Rock Vineyard has been awarded the McCracken Water Services Trophy for ‘Best Pinot Noir in Show’ 2009 Geelong Wine Show. This years Judging Panel comprised leading wine writer and Wine Judge Huon Hooke, leading sommelier and Wine Judge Ben Edwards and Helen McCarthy, Senior Winemaker at Taylors of Clare SA. Huon Hook took time at the Gala Wine Awards dinner to compliment the high quality of Pinot Noir produced in the Geelong region.
This years award follows up on last years Gold Medal received in the same show for their 2007 Pinot Noir. Hat Rock Vineyard’s success has not been brought about by good luck. It is the product of a long-standing collaboration between viticulturalist / owner Stephen Funnell and winemaker Ray Nadeson and their passion for Pinot Noir. Steve’s focus on producing fruit of intense flavour and Ray and Steve’s commitment to traditional winemaking methods results in distinctive wines that express the unique character of this particular vineyard.
